Spirals & Spirals Part Two

The train's emergency lights flickered on and off as if they hadn’t been used in
decades, you could see the faint outline and shapes of the passengers. As they
sat in the dark subway tunnel, it started to become very humid. Ciara squeezed
Deon’s hand. Ciara was feeling nervous, and she finally opened up to Deon, they hit
it off and now they’re sitting on the dark train together. she began to feel nervousness in the pit of her stomach.
Ciara tried to think positive thoughts
but all she felt was if things were going to take a turn for the worst. “Hey
Ci, are you alright?” Deon felt her body tense up and she had a look of concern
on her face. Ciara took a breath “Yeah,
I’m Fine Deon thanks” they both knew that wasn’t true.
It was so quiet on the train you could hear
a pin drop. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHH” Ciara and Deon both jumped up at the same time,
“DID YOU HEAR THAT?!” Ciara shouted “Y-Yeah I did, what do you think is going
on? Deon asked. “What the heck!!?” One of the passengers exclaimed.
The sound came from the tunnel, the same tunnel the subway train was stopped
in. “Frigg this, I’m not gonna wait to find out what that was, move out the
way” the tall man exclaimed as he started to break the emergency escape latch.
Deon looked at Ciara and Ciara looked at Deon. “Ci, I don’t think we should
stay here, once this guy breaks the doors we may as well leave too”, Ciara
nodded “Your right D, I trust you. Let’s go”.
As the Tall man started to break one of the windows, other passengers ran
toward the action. “Hey what are you doing?” an older lady asked. “What does it
look like?! I’m getting out of this damn train” the Tall man barked at the lady.
“Attention passengers, we have been told to remain calm and to remain inside
the train until further instruction from the authorities” came from the train’s
speaker. “Hell NO! I’m getting out now! Anyone who wants to sit here and wait
in the dark car, I’ve got to get to work!” The Tall man yelled as he continued to use
the escape mallet and destroy the windows.
“Deon, I don’t feel good about this at all, where will we go? which direction
towards the next station or backward, we don’t even know how far we are” Ciara
exclaimed. “Alright Ci” Deon pulled out his phone to light up the station map
above their seat. “We left Union station and now we are between Queen and
Dundas. We should follow the tracks towards Dundas,” said Deon.
“Are you crazy man-n? did you hear that scream? We’re sitting ducks’ man-n-n I
don’t think so!” One scraggly man piped in as if Deon was talking to him. Ciara
pulled Deon over towards her and whispered “I think we need to keep it down
about our plans D, I’m not sure what’s going on here but I don’t feel too great
about this”.
“Bout time! See ya later, gators!” The tall man hopped out the door. “Hey m-aaaa-n
wait for me!” The scraggly man ran after him. “Oh my! I am going to wait here
as instructed, it seems as if no one doesn’t follow instructions” The old lady
huffed. Deon looked out towards the path the two men went, and waited as he
held Ciara close. He closed his eyes for what seemed like an eternity, hopped
down and stretched his arms toward Ciara “You can jump, Ciara, I got you” Deon
said as he held open his arms. Oof! Ciara jumped into his arms and he stumbled
back.
“Come” Deon started to walk toward the station and held Ciara’s hand. Ciara
started to walk faster than Deon “Damn Ci, I didn’t know we were racing” as he
smiled at Ciara. “I don’t like this one-bit Deon”. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” they both
stopped dead in their tracks. The scream had come from behind them. As Deon
turned so did Ciara and what they saw was something out of a horror movie.
It began to limp towards them, bowlegged
and arms outstretched, they could smell the stench over a thousand miles away. Rot,
death and decay. It was as if the
temperature dropped to below freezing.
Ciara screamed “RUN DEON RUNNNN” as they turned to run toward Dundas Station
they heard more chilling screams from behind.
