Spirals and Spirals - Short Stories by ShanMillion

Listen to Spirals & Spirals live on my podcast Spirals & Spirals

Spirals and spirals transcend into her vision. The colors of the rainbow filled her view. Joy. She lay there almost motionless and stills her breath. Peace.

“Namaste class. Have a day filled with love and light” Deon declared. Ciara slowly rose from her yoga mat and took a breath, she smiled.

The background noise slowly started to rise as her fellow yogi mates dispersed into the cool morning air.

Ciara waited on her instructor Deon she wanted to thank him for the inspirational class. “Glorious Rising Ciara! How did you enjoy the class?” Deon asked.

“It was a very relaxing vibe Deon, thank you” Ciara hesitated “I was wondering if you offer one on one classes or” Deon started to look taken aback “I mean. If you’re comfortable with it that is?” Ciara felt flush as if black girls could blush. “Wow Ciara I don’t usually offer one-on-one but if you want, I could see how my schedule looks this upcoming week or so,” Deon said.

Ciara thought about it and smiled “sounds good, let me know.”

Ciara turned on her heel and picked up her yoga mat and walked out of the studio. Little did she know this was the beginning of something beautiful.

Deon followed Ciara with his eyes as she left. He was feeling slightly aroused. He usually likes to do the pursuing. He has had his eyes on Ciara for a little while now pursuing his yoga students was never his first thought.

Deon broke his daydream he shifted his weight and tossed his yoga mat over his shoulder. He picked up his yoga blocks and started toward the subway. He only lived 15 minutes away from the studio but he wanted to drop off his yoga gear and head out on a quick errand.

The sky was clear and the temperature was cool, as the day progressed his mind stayed on Ciara. He caught himself thinking about her lips, her smile, how her long legs looked in downward dog.

He imagined her arms, the curve in her low back, and her hips.

“ooff” He walked right into her. “Are you alright? I’m sorry I zoned out there” Deon stammered
“Hey, it’s alright I. wasn’t paying attention much myself, are you following me?”  Ciara smiled.
“uh oh no of course not I was heading to the subway and I …” Deon was flustered, “I was kidding you know that right? I was going to get a smoothie and a bite, did you want to join or” Ciara looked at Deon and bit her lip, she couldn’t help but try not to smile, He was handsome!

Tall medium build toned and he had dimples, and perfect teeth, and she glanced down toward his calves. “Yeah sure, I mean I was going to drop off my yoga gear but I don’t want to intrude and I would love to eat
mean drink ...” Deon realized he was rambling and sounding awkward. Ciara smiled he seems so calm and smooth in class “No problem, we can go get a boost juice?” Ciara grabbed Deon and linked his arm and steered him in the direction of the subway.

Ciara thought he smelled like nature as if tree bark was a cologne. She wondered if it was rude to ask if it wasn’t a bad smell it was like dark, deep tree-aged oak bark. It was bold and strong. She smelled hints of cinnamon and wanted to ask.

Deon felt as if little electric volts were rushing all over his body, she smelled of lavender and citrus. She glowed like her aura was pouring out from the inside. He wondered what she was thinking and blurted out “You smell nice, is it lavender?”

Ciara stopped walking and stood right In front of Deon, she stared at him in disbelief. “You are the first person to guess what I am wearing wow I also added a smidge of Orange” Deon smiled “I just knew I like it.” “You smell like aged deep dark aged Oak and I love it” Ciara declared. “Wow, your good. Aged Oak is right. I love the smell of nature especially the trees something about it”. They resumed their stroll in silence as they were a few steps away from the subway and started to descend the stairs toward the collector’s gate. The air in the subway was musky and smelled like sulfur.

they retrieved their collective transit passes and descended the hall toward the train, they passed the homeless beggars with their bags and signs, and they passed the performer playing the guitar with a collection hat.

As they stood side by side on the platform they spoke briefly of their aspirations, thoughts, and plans for summer. They wanted to both go to a live show and even made plans for a date. As they chatted for a few moments the train started to arrive at the platform, the musky air in the subway blew to them as the train halted to a stop.

After a few dings, the doors opened and the passengers flooded out onto the platform, they came onto the train smiling hand in hand. As they found a seat and began to talk the train started to pull off. “I wanted to let you know that there is a first time for everything Ciara” as they passed through the tunnels. Light dark “Deon, I know I just haven’t met anyone who shared the same interests as me and as such grand inspirations like you. As they started to tease one another the train came to a halt

*screech* The train was plastered in darkness “Deon, what do you think happened?” “Oh, come on!” The other passenger expressed, “I’m going to be late for work” another exclaimed. “I’m sorry passengers we’ve been told by the control that we have to wait here for the authorities clear us before we approach the station, please remain calm and we will keep you posted if anything changes” came from the loudspeaker.

Pho Lee Shop - Short Stories By ShanMillion

She was an outcast, or what some considered, a Loner. She had an odd style, emo. She enjoyed horror films and anime, loved classical music and enjoyed trap music. She liked puzzles but also watched shows with subtitles. Never fully fitting in, but always standing out. The rain fell almost silently amongst the city. The sky was gray but the humidity was there. Marie was feeling something warm and to hit the spot.  Winter was in full swing in November; fall had come to an end, and it was now colder than ever. Marie wasn't going to let the winter blues get the better of her this time. She went to get her nails done, bright pink and gold. It was her birthday. She pulled on her Adidas track pants and turtleneck crop top, finishing the look with some sneakers. She scrolled through her phone to call Felicia, her best friend. Her sister answered the phone and said, "I'm going to call you back!" as the call went out. She put on her gloss and set out on the cold streets of...
